I voted against Amendment 2.
NO, i am not gay, and no, its not something that i wish for my child.
BUT
I do think that they deserve every bit of the recognition that heterosexual couples have. Why does the government feel that it has to regulate what it deems "right" or "normal"?
What about sepparation of church and state as stated in Natashas post? How does allowing same sex marriages affect the government?..i dont see how.
Personally i think that the only reason Amendment two got passed is because there are still many older people that voted and not as much of the countrys youth. Seniors tend to be much more closed minded about things, especially gay rights. Younger people in my opinion are more open minded to it and though they may not be ..pro-gay? i think that many would still agree that they deserve the same rights. But of course that is just my speculation.
i think that whatever occurs behind the doors ofones home is of absolutely no concern of the government, or anyone else for that matter (provided there is nothing illegal or morally wrong going on).
Im interested in seeing how much radical change is going to be coming to the US in the coming years with Obama as president-elect...
