Television.
for some its like going to church, they get their dose of gossip to carry them through the week.
This regular exposure to media, be it news or shows like E! can certainly affect the thoughts and opinions of individuals.
Though i dont think this applies to everyone.
I think it really depends on the person because personally i have never been one to follow.
i dont get easily influenced by others and tend to do things my own way, which isnt always the best idea because i have made PLENTY of mistakes had i listened to the advice of others.
I always try to talk properly and stay away from slang, though i do admit that i do use profanity when im with my friends, but only when i feel strongly about something, its not something i do because its "in"
i mean, i think this is something that directly ties with our topic about our decions being affected by family and friends...
obviously the media is not a relative or friend but i think that like what i had said before, i think that its dependent on the person, some people are more easily influenced by others.

we have it bad...NOT.
and to think i got home today with a headache thinking i had a bad day...then i read this. wow.
im floored.
i cant get over the damage seen in the photos, i had no idea that the situation was so grave. i mean how could i? the day of the "hurricane" here at home all we got were some intense showers but nothing that i would deem anywhere near a hurricane. The Caribbean islands got hammered by the storm.
we got wet.
they had their homes, their lives, destroyed and hidden under the muddy water that now covers their city.
The photographs definitely provoked feelings of sorrow and sympathy. But those were superseded by the feeling of wanting to be able to help those affected.
I think that it is possible to make a difference, that though the efforts of one individual may be small in comparison to the amount of people in need, they would still be making a world of difference to one person or family even.
I think that if people get it stuck in their heads that they cant make a difference, then they wont make any effort, which in the end, really accomplishes nothing.
I think that were in a time there is no reason for anyone, third world country or not, to have to help themselves when a disaster like this occurs. The United States alone is in a deficit of almost 3 trillion dollars because of a war that has dragged on for way more than it should. Do not think that i am in any way saying that money going to our soldiers is a waste, because i think that they deserve any support they can get. You can ask anyone that knows my stance on the military or the war, i love our boys and girls in green (well..technically its khaki now).
But i definitely think that funds could be diverted elsewhere.
Its a shame that with all that we have available to us, we see others suffering and do nothing.
